Fiss – Obladis – Neuegg – Wode tower
Starting point: Latschthayaweg trail
Character: A splendid, predominantly flat trail along a slope through meadows and forests with wide open views of the mountain peaks (Glockturmkamm and Kaunergrat). This is an ideal, stimulating way to get accustomed to the altitude and landscape, with stopover spots for a refreshing beverage.
Walking time: Obladis 1 hour, Wode tour 2 hours
Description: The trail begins at the eastern edge of the village (F008), runs through open meadows with lovely views (F007), leads past the Klobenstein (F005) to the Falterjöchl (F006, panorama views with benches), then descends slightly (F006a) through the forest to the Villa (L016) and via the sulphur springs to Obladis (L065). The Kurhotel (health resort) burned down in 1972 and was never rebuilt. The fountain springs have been renovated and you can taste their “fruits” at Café Obladis. Behind Obladis go straight ahead, at the first serpentine in the street you get on the Herrenweg trail, a flat, beautiful wooded path. About halfway it is crossed by a forest track (L021) and just before Neuegg meets the traffic road (L024), or else you turn off to the left just before the road and walk straight to the Wodeturm tower (L030). Neuegg is a well located, castlelike building with a café. From there, it is just a 15 minutes walk on the forest trail (L026) to the Wodeturm, a wide open spot with a panorama tower. For the return, either go directly on the vehicle track or via the Asterhöfe (L025) to Ladis or ascend to the Fisser Almweg trail no. 4 (L027,F031) and return to Fiss via Rabuschl (F025).
